Hey all, bought my first tractor last week. A 1978 L1501DT with just under 1200 (from what I can tell) original hours. Beauty little tractor I call it the Baby Kubota.

Issue I’m facing is that the bottom links on the 3 point can only spread to about 30” until they hit the tires and grab the lugs pretty severe. Went to put my used snowblower on this weekend and realized the mounts were way too wide for the little guy.
So I thought no problem I’ll just cut them off and weld them on a few inches narrower. Then I started looking up the specs to every implement I was planning on getting my hands on in the next 5 years and realized I’d probably end up having to modify all of them. So the 3 options I’ve thought of so far are:

1. Fabricate new, narrower, lower pins for the snowblower… box blade… brush hog… or whatever else comes my way

2. Buy some new hitch links. Mine are 24” long and offset right away thus hitting the tires when completely spread. I could get some longer links say 32” that are straight for the most part and just flare out at the end.

3. Buy some 2” or 3” wheel spacers for the rear and push the whole rim and tire away from the links.

Honestly leaning more towards option 3 as it seems the easiest. Only downside I see is maybe more stress on the axle, and that I love how everything fits inside the footprint of the 48” bucket right now. Outside tire to tire the tractor is 44” so pretty ideal. Maybe that’s just an excuse to eventually buy a 5 foot bucket.

If anyone has ran into this before and has a great solution I’m totally missing let me know. Excited to own this tractor for many years to come!

I have a similar tractor that is the L185. The category 1 implements usually fit so perhaps your implements are category 2. I have had to turn the pins towards the inside on some implements to make them mount easier.

I would recommend you modify the implements to suit the tractor or move the tires out. In fact there is a model L260 wheel that is an adjustable agricultural wheel that would fit my L185 so should fit your tractor.

You might be able to purchase them from a salvage yard in Canada or I believe the salvage yard in California probably has them.

A picture of the three point setup might shed some light on what's going on.
There should be no reason the three point won't fit a Cat 1 Implement.

On the rear rims are the valve stems on the inside or outside?
Looking at the pic it looks like they are dished in.
That size of tractor should have a 55" to 60" inch bucket on it too.

Thanks for the response lads.
To start off the snowblower I currently have has previously been on a Massey 35, then a White 1370. Both significantly larger tractors than the Baby Kubota. Maybe the 3 point just had a bit more spread on those units.

Also, I did notice the box blade I was looking at had threaded pins with a nut holding them in and I could definitely flip them around and make it narrower. But as far as finding some used wheels & tires I feel like that might not be as cost effective as the $400 CAD spacers I’m looking at.

Next, the valve stems are facing the outside. Wheels are definitely non adjustable and heavily inset, as narrow as it gets. Dimensions Ive measured so far:

Bucket: 48”
Tractor width: 44”
Snowblower width: 66”
3 point spread: 25” - 30” (min-max, max hits the tires)

Great to hear that this old girl can have a 60” bucket on it as I’ve been eyeing a 5 foot snow pusher on marketplace! I can get more pics when I’m back as the house this weekend but for now here is what I have of the hitch

If you take the right wheel and tire and swap it to the left and left to right you will gain quite a bit of width.
