    Ballast Analysis

Great videos. I'm much newer to tractors than most here and amazed at what seems to be a low % of the total weight on the rear axle with no ballast. A good demonstration of the effect of a load in the bucket and the of the need for ballast with a loader.

Front left hub is a bit sad - advice needed

What started out as a simple project to try to fix the runout of the left front wheel, ended in a slightly bigger job. Not only is the left front wheel now running true, but the front right front hub has some "new" bits fitted to fix a problem that I didn't know I had. Next - new wheels and...

Front left hub is a bit sad - advice needed

Out with the old (front right bevel gear and stub axle).... Assembled the "new" bits with the replacement bevel gear and stub axle from @Mountainman Mossy Creek Outdoors.... I wasn't able to push the end of the stub axle shaft into the inner bearing by hand on this one.... So I removed...

Shout out to Mossy Creek Outdoors

It's interesting that some of us are never happy with the tractor that we've got....me included, and we have to keep modifying it. I reckon many others would be pretty interested to follow your project. Might be better to make it a new thread in the Fabrication and Customisation section so it...

Anyone enjoying consecutive days and nights of too cold weather?

Yeah, the high temps, hot wind and a bit of smoke in the air from nearby bushfires....all a bit much.

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Haha - thanks. I've got the message. But mounting the cylinder I already have won't be very hard, and I already have it.

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Haha - don't assume too much. No, I didn't have it all worked out, just some rough ideas and figured I'd be able to make it work somehow. Looks like it's back to Plan A. Rather than just looking at it and speculating, I measured a few things.... The full lock to lock left to right travel of...

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Nope. Looks like it should go between the steering control valve and the steering wheel but on the Messicks exploded view the steering wheel attaches directly to the valve shaft.

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Haha - glad you're keeping an eye on this and thanks for the suggestion....same as what I posted as a question above at post #60. Makes me feel good when someone who knows stuff makes the same suggestion as me.

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Sorry, I was thinking of the mechanical steering linkages. Wondering how they fared with the addition of the power steering cylinder.

    B7200 hydraulic steering

I've already decided to mount whatever pump I ended up with on the front as I have a mid mount mower. Might swap it for a 3PL mower one day, but that's it for now.

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Correct. The existing mechanical steering box and steering shaft gets removed. I'll either mount the steering control valve directly to the steering wheel or with a shaft between it and the steering wheel. Will decide locations when I pull that but apart.

    B7200 hydraulic steering

This probably does help. I think it supports the case for fitting a cylinder where the above power steering cylinder goes. Do you know if there were any issues with the steering connections downstream from the cylinder on these power steering setups ?

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Yep. So if I fix an end of the barrel to a bracket I'll make, the rod will move in and out and push or pull the left side steering arm. I'll just need to allow the barrel to pivot but not move back or forwards with the bracket. Probably re-purpose one of the tie rod ends. Maybe not the...

    B7200 hydraulic steering

Thanks Russell, but I don't see why it wouldn't work. The long arm is pushed in and out by the existing mechanical steering box to push the arm on the steering knuckle back and forwards. Replacing the mechanical steering box and this long arm with a hydraulic cylinder would do the same thing...
