Looks like a clean tire puncture

The tire shop near me that specialized in tractor & fork truck tires (now gone) let me watch when they patched a couple of large tractor tires, one side wall, maybe 3/4", and one between the tread blocks, probably an inch plus. First they put a conventional patch on the inside, but big & thick...

B7100 Custom Loader Hydraulics to Solve Performance Issues

I haven't added a filter to my FEL, but I put this one on my splitter: https://surpluscenter.com/1-1-4-npt-25-gpm-zinga-suction-filter-zinga-se-25-907056/

    Daily Chuckle

The other prank that would occasionally crop up was to take DUXSEAL (a gray putty-like stuff originally designed for sealing ducts; we used it for coolant dams & vibration deadening) and soak it in VARSOL. It became like snot, and then guys would put a blob of it in a length of 1/2" conduit and...

    Daily Chuckle

I have seen that exact scenario. I serviced and calibrated fiber optic filament fusion splicers for the last research lab I worked in. I designed a cart to move the splicers from workstation to workstation. It was 28" x 50", formica topped, & held the splicer, computer, keyboard & monitor. It...

    Daily Chuckle

This reminded me of an absolutely epic prank i saw when I worked in production machining. There was a guy working (I use the term loosely) there who was not very well liked. He spent very little time working and lots of time sucking up to the bosses: paling around with them, bringing them...

    A truck and trailer thread.

I probably should have, because the heat out here undoubtably cooked the seals & grease. If I remember right, the dealer cleaned & lubed them under warranty at about 90K miles, then they worked fine till about 220K.

    A truck and trailer thread.

After a couple hundred thousand miles, my '03 F350 hubs became sticky, & hard to engage/disengage. Told my diesel guy to disassemble/clean/lube the hubs while it was in for other service. (they actually sell a service parts kit for this) When I got it back, he had put new hubs on it. When I...

Is that you, "Bolt Face" ??????

Similar installation but on Lil Foot: Neither has to be particularly strong, as they are both relatively light vehicles. Lil Foot weighs a lot more than the Rhino, and has pulled out maybe 2 dozen vehicles, some full size. All aluminum winch mount/bumper. It is only attached with (4) grade 8...

Should we stop using Red and Tacky type of grease?

When I worked in a production machine shop decades ago, we had a guy who had been oiling/greasing/lubing machines all over the plant for 30+ years. He was of the opinion that any lube (even if not the recommended lube) was better than no lube at all. I am of the same opinion. YMMV.

Thread tape, thread sealant, or ????

The best thread sealant I've ever used (by orders of magnitude) is this stuff: But they apparently went out of business, couldn't find it anywhere. It has (apparently) resurfaced as this stuff: I have some on order. :)
