Site News – OrangeTractorTalks https://www.orangetractortalks.com Everything Kubota Sat, 10 Aug 2019 17:35:53 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=5.6.16 News: Classifieds 2.0 https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2010/01/news-classifieds-20/ Tue, 26 Jan 2010 06:37:05 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/?p=2099 Over the last 18 months the site has grown a lot. We have outstripped the simple classifieds system put together on a weekend more than a year ago… The existing system does not allow anyone to edit or update their ad after the fact, add pictures, take down their ad, answer questions or anything fun like that. It served us well but it was also a pain in the butt to use.

Buy, Sell & Trade

Instead of reinventing the wheel creating a classifieds system, we have a new section on the forums: Buy, Sell & Trade!

Cool! How can I post an ad?
You will need to register on the forums in order to post your ad and any pictures. Registering on the forums also comes in handy when you have helpful advice to give or need it from someone else. Bonus.

What sorts of things should I include in my ad?
Take a look here for some tips. There is no strict rules regarding the formatting of the ads – but – certain things can make your ad easier to find.

What happens to the existing ads on the old system?
They are no longer accessible. If you want your ad up you will have to post it again – sorry about that!

A little less of this.

A lot more of this.

A lot more of this.

Mr. K is back! From vacation that is. Time to get back to the business of Kubota 101.

Up until now Service Department Vic has been holding the fort and he has been doing a good job of that – we thank him. But the show must go on so we are going to work to bring some new site upgrades, more tractor specs, new articles and of course, handy Kubota videos.

Look for those new additions soon, until then check out our forums and sign up to post questions of your own if you have not done so already.

Kubota On Demand: Let there be Specs! https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2009/06/kubota-on-demand-let-there-be-specs/ https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2009/06/kubota-on-demand-let-there-be-specs/#comments Fri, 12 Jun 2009 07:32:52 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/?p=1867 Finally! After a lot of hard work the first iteration of Kubota On Demand is now ready to go live. It is a 100% custom-built database for Kubota equipment specifications. Specs on models, engines, transmissions, mowers, rototillers, backhoes, loaders and mowers are listed. Painted orange? We have specs for it!

Right now at launch we only have 30+ of Kubota’s models with specifications listed, but, we are working hard to add more on a daily basis. You can help out too by adding your own pictures, videos, PDFs and what not under the appropriate sections.

kubotaondemand3

Kubota On Demand is an ongoing project that will include future updates with even more goodies and more specs. Until then, check it out and let us know what you think.

Looking for Kubota Specifications? Soon. https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2009/05/looking-for-kubota-specifications-soon/ Thu, 14 May 2009 06:53:19 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/?p=1794 Here at OrangeTractorTalks.com we are Everything Kubota and we sure do not like to disappoint! In addition to our articles, videos and active forum, we are preparing to roll out a Kubota specification database.

Comprehensive
The database will cover all of the equipment in Kubota’s past and present model lineup, including gray models. Specs on engines, transmissions, serial numbers, loaders, backhoes, capacities, part numbers – you name it – you will be able to look it up. If you are planning on long-term ownership of your Kubota, we figure this database will come in handy a few times.

Upload Your Content Too
Readers from the Kubota tractoring community will also be able to contribute their own images, web links, reviews, PDF brochures, marketing materials and documents to each model as well. Think of it as the Wikipedia of Kubota equipment!

Great. When is all this ready?
Look for the first roll-out Kubota specifications to appear within the next two weeks.

OrangeTractorTalks Forum Launched! https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2009/02/orangetractortalks-forum-launched/ Tue, 17 Feb 2009 08:59:52 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/?p=1167 Hello, Mr. K here with a quick update.

After some testing, we’ve launched our new OrangeTractorTalks forums! We want to open the door a bit and let our faithful viewers “meet up” and learn not just from us, but from each other as well. You can find the forums at this link:

https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums

or by selecting Forums in the navigation quick links in our banner above.

Forum Available

Registering on the Forums
A side-effect of moving toward a more robust forum system is that we cannot reuse the existing user accounts our viewers have been using within the article-side of the site. All that is required to gain access to the forums is re-registering your information with the new system (which is fast and easy). The re-registration link is:

https://www.orangetractortalks.com/forums/register.php

Reuse my old User Name?
Yes, when you re-register you can still reuse your previous user name, password and email if you like. If you we not in love with your user name, now might be a good chance to change it.

What about posting Comments on Articles?
Posting comments on articles will depend if you have an original article-account already in place (ie. an account with us before the forum arrived). If you do, yes, you can still post comments on articles, but for now, you will have to sign in to the article-side of the site separately. Not ideal, but it works for now.

Posting comments on articles if you are a new member (an account with us after you are reading this message), then you will not yet have an article-side account created and will not be able to post comments that are linked to your account – you can still post comments by filling in your information manually on the comment box. We’re working on this, but you will have access to the forums to view and post.

View the forums from time to time and help out your fellow man – who knows, you might learn a thing or two!

OrangeTractorTalks Discussion Forum https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2009/02/orangetractortalks-discussion-forum/ Mon, 16 Feb 2009 19:22:09 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/?p=1126 Hello again, Mr. K here,

Just a quick update on some of the things we are working on behind the scenes here at OrangeTractorTalks. One of them is a new discussion forum built using a professional grade forum system. Up until now, the communication has been a bit one way – myself or Service Department Vic post some articles and try to handle the comments best we can. We know there are lots of other experts out there too that could share their advice and help the community, so, a forum is the next logical step.

A sneek peak at the forums on their way to OrangeTractorTalks

A sneek peak at the forums on their way to OrangeTractorTalks

On the new forum you will be able to post your own custom avatar, signatures, tractor pictures, message other users privately, post new threads and reply to others to help them along. Post and help out enough, and you’ll advance through the ranks and gain the admiration and respect of everyone (on the forum that is).

Look for our forum roll out within the next couple of weeks – we’ll send you an email at that time with instructions on how to sign up on the new system.

Watch our Kubota Videos in High Definition https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2009/02/watch-our-kubota-videos-in-high-definition/ Fri, 06 Feb 2009 19:58:01 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/?p=1070 Hello, Mr. K here with a quick tip that lets you watch your favorite Kubota YouTube videos in high definition. This is particularily handy if you want to see the finer details that we point out in our videos that harder to see with lower quality video.

How to Enable High Quality Playback
Simply start playing the video and then move your mouse to the bottom right corner. A menu will roll up that lets you select “HQ” for high quality playback. The video will take a moment to stream in the higher quality content and will resume playing from the position where you toggled the quality.

The HQ button in the menu that rolls up from the bottom right toggles quality between low and high. When the button is red you are on the high quality setting.

Results
Here is a frame from our video on how to clear snow with a snow blade, and you can see the difference toggling the quality setting makes. YouTube in the future might have high quality set to on by default, but for now, you have to select it manually.

Kubota Gallery Available! https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2008/12/kubota-gallery-available/ Mon, 08 Dec 2008 01:56:12 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/?p=579 We’ve added a Kubota Gallery to the website! Feel free to post your favorite Kubota hauling dirt, digging a hole, tilling or mowing – whatever you’d like to show others. You can access the gallery with the link above, or look on the right-hand menu for “Kubota Gallery”.

How to Reference Photos from your Comments
The gallery will also come in handy if you are posting comments and want to show others a picture of what you’re describing. What you would do in this case would be:

 1. head over to the Kubota Gallery and upload your photo – add a title and description if you’d like
 2. when you upload your photo you will be presented with a link/URL to its location, copy that link
 3. head back to the article you want to comment on, and simply paste the link in the body of your comments

Once the link to your uploaded photo is in your comments, others will be able to read your comments and follow the link to the photo and see its details.

Enjoy the new gallery!

OrangeTractorTalks launched! https://www.orangetractortalks.com/2008/09/orangetractortalks-launched/ Wed, 17 Sep 2008 03:12:13 +0000 http://www.orangetractortalks.com/wordpress/?p=1 The first post on OrangeTracorTalks, a site dedicated to that orange tractor sitting in your shed – your Kubota!

We are two authors that combined have more than 25 years experience helping people with their Kubota tractors and equipment. We have bought, sold, rebuilt, maintained and serviced dozens of tractors and have helped hundreds of other people do the same. Ultimately, we love, live and breathe Kubota and now is our chance to share some of the tips, hints and “tribal knowledge” that we have learned along the way.

In the coming weeks and months we will be preparing some articles that will likely have something for everyone, even if you are also a Kubota expert. Also on that note, novices and experts alike, please feel free to post your comments and suggestions.

Everything Kubota!

Mr. K and Vic
