    Welder Advice

Tons of advice here, thank you all! I think I've got a good starting point in the arccaptain, plus an idea of what to keep an eye out for used. I do make the 6 hr drive to a major metro area a few times a year so upgrading with a used machine isn't impossible. I was planning on spending good...

    Welder Advice

I appreciate all the input and I know this kind of stuff can be a "buy once, cry once" kinda deal but I'm not prepared to drop $1300+ on just the welder when I'm trying to learn and see if it will even be worth my time. I'll definitely keep an eye out for used millers or hobarts, but I'm likely...

    Welder Advice

No aluminum, welds would be on carbon and mild steel from 24ga - 1/4" plate for all the stuff I've been putting off. Sounding like a decent 220 mig would give me the best chance at actually succeeding at faking my way through them. I'd still like to end up around $400 though if that's even...

    Welder Advice

I live in northen new england far from civilization so the usual advice doesn't really hold true, hence why I'm looking for something I can mail order that would be easiest to learn on. I can add a 220v outlet if I need to go that route.

    Welder Advice

Ideally 110v, no multiprocess, and budget is about harbor freight level until I figure out if I can even develop the skills to get my money's worth out of it. I've been seriously considering getting one of the chinese tig machines off of temu since users on a hobbyist forum I frequent have...

    Welder Advice

I'm just stacking up too many repairs that require welding, the time has come to buy a welder and figure it out. I have some very minor experience using mig, but that was always under supervision and years ago. Can anyone reccomend me a beginner rig that I can fake my way through and is...

    PTO selection problem

That was the first thing I checked, the picture may not show it, but in the full rearward position there's still about 1/2" of clearance where it's not touching anything, I'm also pushing on the linkage that the level is connected to so lever flex is not part of the equation.

    Snowblower

There is nothing WD-40 is used for that something else doesn't do better. I undercoat the vehicles with woolwax every year and I hit the tractor and implements while I'm at it. I live in the merrimack valley where I'm constantly dealing with slush and I don't get clogs unless I get behind and...

    PTO selection problem

I have a bx2230 and it feels like there is something wrong with the pto selector. When I keep it pinned to the rear only the front pto is active, but vibrations move it slightly forward and the rear pto engages as well. Playing with the stick it feels like there are 2 stong engagement points...

    Hydraulic coupler o ring

Thank you, the current male looks a little different, it has a cylindrical nipple instead of the conical ones in your link, are they cross compatible? Sorry, truck brakes and power steering are my only previous hydraulic experience so I have no idea on terminology.

    Hydraulic coupler o ring

Ok, so they are snaptite 72 fittings and the pioneer o ring doesn't work. It looks like theres a nitrile and a delrin ring stacked on eachother. I'm having a hard time just finding a replacement coupler, let alone gaskets. Could anyone point me in the right direction?

    Hydraulic coupler o ring

Looks like I buggered the o ring on one of my couplers, that hose leaks bad now. Is the o ring easily replaced or am I better off just getting a new female end?

Reloading the loader. Couplers won't connect.

I learned something new today, 100 lbs is all it takes to breach human skin. Thanks for giving me a reason to wear ppe when I'm mucking around with hydraulics.

    Snow plowing

My dumbass read that you were getting a blower and not a plow. If all you're doing is maintaining a driveway, then either spring for a tractor with a blower, or spend a lot less money on a dedicated plow truck. Buying a light duty tractor just for plowing doesn't make a lot of since to me since...

    Snow plowing

I live in Northern NH and I use a BX2230 (basically one step up from a mower) to take care of a gravel drive twice the length of yours with the same bucket/blower setup. The LX will get the job done faster. I'd add a back blade and a box blade to the setup for year round driveway maintenance...

    Ran well and then..

Pop the starter and work backwards. I was chasing down an ignition issue for an hour before I realized I'd left the PTO engaged.
