LX vs. Standard L - are FELs and 3 pt capacity that close?

My ancient Mohawk picks its teeth with 2" saplings. My biggest concern when running over something closer to 4" is the shrapnel. Dan

LX vs. Standard L - are FELs and 3 pt capacity that close?

No - I have 35+ years experience. I need smoother and more level ground. I have a paved 2000' lane. I could plow snow downhill in H but I would wind up in a spinout throwing the tractor over the hillside pretty quickly. In other words M is as fast as I can safely and effectively operate. YMMV...

    L3350DT hydraulic problems

Understood and I wholeheartedly agree. I asked and he answered way back in posts #6 and #7. According to him the loader is behaving erratically. I think its time to pick up a wrench. The question is how and where. I suggested the PB line on the loader valve. Hard to tell from browsing the...

LX vs. Standard L - are FELs and 3 pt capacity that close?

When bucketing material I never hit top speed in M. Half the bucket would be on the ground enroute.

    L3350DT hydraulic problems

I understand all that. I am trying to understand what cycling the PS or loader tells you. That tractor has a tandem pump. One section for PS and a implement/shuttle section with flow divider. Checking flow at in and out of the flow divider is real easy. Dan

LX vs. Standard L - are FELs and 3 pt capacity that close?

High range on an L01 is a "high speed" road gear and my L3901 slows down on moderate gradex. Other than that my tractor works in mid and low range. A 700# 72" finish mower and 500# 60" rotary cutter are "toys" both in terms of weight and PTO horsepower. Dan

LX vs. Standard L - are FELs and 3 pt capacity that close?

The LX is a smaller tractor on shorter rubber. Regardless of loader capacity an LX is nowhere close to the muscle of a standard L. Dan

    Adding a hydraulic top link

That would be an excellent choice for cylinder to outlet. Bigger hoses serve no useful purpose and make hose management more difficult. Dan

    L3350DT hydraulic problems

I am curious what you are looking for. Just looking at the parts disgram it appears the shuttle valve is fed by a prority flow divider. The loader is on the excess circuit? Dan

B7100 Custom Loader Hydraulics to Solve Performance Issues

If you use an appropriate grade oil and size the suction hose properly there is little to no chance of oil starvation If you put a filter on the suction side you increase the chance of starvation. For cleanliness purposes the ideal configuration is a tank strainer on the suction side and a...

    Engine oil question.

Journal bearings float on a hydrodynamic film and will will go forever like that. Bearing wear happens in mixed and boundary mode lubrication which occurs at startuo, shutdown, lugging, and loss of oil supply. Thats why 0W20, 0w30 and 0W40 grades have gained so much popularity with OEMs. Dan

    L3350DT hydraulic problems

I will add to what @North Idaho Wolfman said. If the valve appears to be working the next step would be checking for flow and pressure at the valve. Thats where your problem is. Stsrt there and work back, not the other way around. Dan

Hydraulic shuttle shift I believe. It msy be as simple as a dirty strainer. He needs to do a little structured testing to narrow things down. Dan

    L3350DT hydraulic problems

You can easily observe the flow - no guessing involved.. All it takes is a length of 3/4" clear tubing from your local box store. Or cut up an old garden hose. Dan
